ASTM D2714 – Standard Test Method for Calibration and Operation of the Falex Block-on-Ring Friction and Wear Testing Machine
Significance and Use
4.1Â This test method is used for the calibration of a block-on-ring testing machine by measuring the friction and wear properties of a calibration fluid under the prescribed test conditions.
4.2Â The user of this test method should determine to his or her own satisfaction whether results of this test procedure correlate with field performance or other bench test machines. If the test conditions are changed, wear values can change and relative ratings of fluids can be different.
Scope
1.1Â This test method covers the calibration and operation of a block-on-ring friction and wear testing machine.
1.2Â The values in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only.
1.3Â This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
1.4Â This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
