Quality Assurance

As an ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited lab, Savant places quality at the center of everything we do.  From the first entry of a customer sample into our laboratory until its final disposition, we treat it as the valuable and often irreplaceable source of information it is.  We utilize innovative equipment and adhere to the rigorous application of ASTM and other industry standard test methods for measuring the critical properties of high-quality lubricants.

All our chemists and technicians are given responsibility for the quality of the data they produce -- from the regular calibration and maintenance of their instruments to the careful monitoring of reference values and control charts.  Data is also reviewed by a quality control specialist before reporting.  We support our results.  If you have questions, we can provide the answers you need quickly.

ISO 9001:2015 Quality System Certified

Savant Labs are an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certified lab. The certification is completed by an annual review by ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc. Internal reviews are also conducted on an annual basis. Customers who have conducted quality audits have found our quality system to be excellent in design and practice. 

In 2018, Savant Labs transitioned to the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

ISO/IEC ISO 17025:2017 Accredited

Savant Labs are ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Accredited by Perry Johnson Laboratory Accreditation Inc. for Chemical and Mechanical testing. ISO 17025 accreditation provides a sense of trust that your samples are being tested by a world-class quality laboratory recognized by International Standards Organizations. Savant Labs data will carry additional credibility when shared with your customers.

ASTM Proficiency Testing Programs

Savant Labs regularly participate in the ASTM Proficiency Testing Program (PTP) for Engine Oil Lubricants, Diesel Fuels, Automatic Transmission Fluids, Turbine Oil, and In-Service Diesel Oil. Savant Labs have an excellent reputation for quality and precision. 

ASTM Test Monitoring Center (TMC)

Several test methods run by Savant Labs are crucial to the lubricants industry. Such tests are monitored by the ASTM TMC and Savant Labs provide reference oil results to the TMC to ensure industry consistency. Savant Labs have contributed time and effort to improving ASTM and CEC test methods. 

Industry Involvement

Savant Labs and others in the Savant Group are involved in numerous subcommittees of ASTM D.02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants, holding several chair and secretary positions. Savant is also well represented in the CEC and Energy Institute organizations. Savant Labs are at the forefront of defining and improving test methods for the lubricants and oil industry. 

National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA)

Since 2016, Savant Labs have been an authorized lab for NMMA oil certification testing. 

Rerun Policy

Savant is proud of its testing quality and accuracy.  Tests will be rerun upon request to confirm data accuracy.  If rerun test results fall within repeatability of original test results, both original and rerun tests will be billed to the customer.  If rerun test results are not repeatable with original test results, subsequent analysis will be conducted to determine the source of error, accurate results will be reported to the customer, and only one test will be billed to the customer.
